How to add an accessibility widget to Webflow

To add Octo Assist to Webflow, paste your one-line install code into the Footer code field under Site settings → Custom code, then publish your site. Footer code loads before the closing </body> tag on every page. Custom code needs a paid Site plan or a paid Workspace plan.
  • 4 steps
  • Copy and paste, no coding
  • Runs on every page

What do you need before you start?

  • A paid Webflow plan: an active Site plan for this site, or a Core, Growth, Agency or Freelancer Workspace.
  • A Webflow role that can change site settings and publish, such as Site manager or Designer.
  • Your site added in your Octo Assist dashboard under the domain visitors use, for example example.com (www.example.com works too).
  • An active Octo Assist plan. You can paste the code first, but the button only appears once a plan is active. See pricing.

How do you add Octo Assist to Webflow?

  1. Step 1: Open Site settings

With your code copied, open Site settings for your site from your Webflow dashboard or from the Designer.

  2. Step 2: Go to Custom code

    Click the Custom code tab.

  3. Step 3: Paste the code in Footer code

Paste your code into the Footer code field, which loads before the closing </body> tag on every page. Click Save changes.

  4. Step 4: Publish your site

Publish the site. Custom code only goes live after you publish.

How do you know it worked?

Open your live site in a private (incognito) window, so you see it the way a new visitor does. Look for the round button in the bottom right corner, or bottom left if you chose that in your dashboard. Click it, or press Alt+Shift+A (Option+Shift+A on a Mac), to open the panel, then turn on a tool such as Text size to check that the page changes. Use the domain you added in your dashboard for this check.

What if the button doesn't show up?

Why don't I see the button in the Designer?

Custom code doesn't run on the Designer canvas, and Preview only runs it when that option is turned on in Site settings. Check your published site in a private window instead.

I saved the code. Why doesn't my live site have the button?

Saving isn't enough: publish the site so the new code goes live. Then reload the page in a private window.

Why doesn't the button show on my webflow.io address?

The widget only runs on the domain you added in your dashboard and its www version. If you added your custom domain, the webflow.io staging address counts as a different site. Check the custom domain instead.

My dashboard says Needs a plan. Will the button show?

No. You can install the code before you choose a plan, but the button only appears once your plan is active. Choose a plan on the Billing page of your dashboard, then reload your site.
