01What is our goal?
We want everyone to be able to use this website, the customer dashboard and the Octo Assist widget, whatever device or assistive technology they use. Our target is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.
02How well does the site meet WCAG 2.2 AA?
We believe this site is partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 AA. Most pages meet the standard, and we fix gaps as soon as we find them. We have not yet had an independent audit.
03What have we done?
- Pages use headings, landmarks and lists so screen reader users can move around quickly, with a "Skip to content" link on every page.
- Everything works with a keyboard, with a strong, visible focus outline.
- Text has a contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1, and form fields have visible labels and clear error messages.
- Animations are reduced when your device asks for less motion.
- Pages adapt to small screens and to zooming in.
- The widget panel can be used with a keyboard (Alt+Shift+A opens it) and is labeled for screen readers.
04How do we test?
- Automated checks with axe-core.
- Keyboard-only checks of every form, menu and dialog.
- Screen reader checks with VoiceOver on macOS and iOS.
- Zoom and small-screen checks in the latest versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari.
05Are there known problems?
- Checkout and the billing portal are run by Stripe. Their accessibility is outside our control.
- The color pickers on the contrast checker use your browser's own control. You can type hex values instead.
- The live demo has a moving dot and spinner on purpose, so you can try the Stop animations tool. Both stop when your device asks for less motion.
06How can you tell us about a problem?
Email support@example.com and tell us the page and what went wrong. We read every message and will reply as soon as we can.
